“Bihar had a guardian-like leader”

Choudhary said it would be difficult for Bihar to find a “guardian” like Nitish Kumar. He praised his strong command over all departments and his role in mentoring new ministers.

“Government will function under his guidance”

He also said that Nitish Kumar may continue to guide the party as a national leader, and the government will function based on his experience.

Reactions from other leaders

  • Legislative Council Chairman Awadhesh Narayan Singh said the resignation has been accepted and the seat will be declared vacant.
  • JDU leader Umesh Kushwaha stated that the resignation was due to constitutional provisions.
  • JDU MLC Sanjay Gandhi said the atmosphere during the resignation was normal and the Chief Minister appeared calm.

What is the reason behind the resignation?

It is reported that Nitish Kumar resigned from the MLC post after being elected to the Rajya Sabha, as per constitutional provisions that prevent a person from being a member of two legislatures simultaneously beyond a limited period.

This development sends a strong message in Bihar politics—while leadership may change, Nitish Kumar’s influence and guidance are likely to remain significant in the coming days.
